• Your relationship to the person invited to Japan

• How much time the individual you are inviting plans to stay in Japan
• Information on accommodation and living expenses in Japan
• The date the person you’re inviting intends to leave Japan

Information About The Person Providing Visa Letter in Japan

• Complete full name of the person in Japan
• Date of birth of the person in Japan
• Residential address and phone number in Japan
• Occupation of the person in Japan
• Whether you are national of Japan or Long term Resident
• A copy of a document indicating person’s residential status in Japan. (eg: copy of a birth certificate if the individual born in Japan or has Japanese citizenship card.)
• If you are Permanent Resident in Japan, an evidence of permanent resident status need to be sent.

This information is only a guide. You have to write the letter of invitation yourself. Some Japanese visa offices may require that your letter be notarized by a Notary Public.

For a few types of visas such as inviting aged parents, you might be instructed to produce more information such as the following:

• Information about your family unit, together with names and dates of birth of your spouse and dependants along with the total number of people living in your residence,
• Details about those you might have recently sponsored and whose sponsorship is still in effect,
• A written and signed commitment of your financial support for your parents or grandparents for the entire duration of their stay in Japan,
• Proof of income at a level matching or in excess of the low-income for the total number of people, including the visiting parents or grandparents, must be included.
